visioning exercise

New Mills has a long history of power generation in Norwich. The site was first used for milling flour and wood in the 15th century and it has been used almost constantly since then in a variety of forms. The current building on the site was used as a air compression pumping station to pump sewage to a higher level in Norwich's sewage system. Today this important remnant of our industrial heritage sits redundant and unused. We have been developing ideas for how New Mills could be reused with ideas as far ranging as a centre for kayakers, an organic flour mill, an independent film studio or an eco-business hub. We presented some of our ideas in an exhibition at the Forum in the centre of Norwich. We are currently continuing with feasibility explorations including researching micro hydro-power.
